The Story
Growing up, she believed what she learnt in school was sufficient at the foundational level but in order to attain the elusive A1, she had to look beyond what the school curriculum offered.
But how? And where?
She explored and tested various approaches on her own as a student which worked and gave her the A1 in the O level examinations. Applying the same formula, she attained the A again in the General Paper for the A level examinations.
Following in her mother's esteemed footsteps, a retired senior teacher with over two decades of service at Tao Nan School, Miss Woo taught in MOE schools first and relished the challenge of dispelling the common misconception that "English cannot be studied for,” a common utterance by her students then, pioneering numerous proven strategies for editing, writing, and even tackling the most formidable comprehension questions. During her time with MOE, she noticed the gap between the work given in school and students who wanted to explore what was beyond the school syllabus. Driven by her firsthand experience as a student then and now as a teacher, she joined *Mrs D’s English Enrichment in 2021 which equipped her with the resources to do that.
A lover of the arts (she minored in Theatre Studies in University and is still passionate about dance), She believes that a robust linguistic foundation empowers the child with the skills needed to make astute judgments, articulate compelling arguments, exude unshakable confidence, and extend empathy to others.
*Established in 2009 by the late Mrs Nora Yuan-de Silva (Mrs D), Mrs D’s English Enrichment specialises in English Language Programmes for students from Primary 5 to JC 2 (PSLE / O-Levels / IP / A’Levels).
Mrs D was an English Language & Literature Subject Specialist and a former Raffles Institution GEP teacher with over 25 years of experience in teaching and curriculum development. Through her many years as a passionate and dedicated educator, Mrs D coached hundreds of students, taking many of them through the SEAB PSLE to the Cambridge-Singapore A-Levels.
